Graphing Functions

Graphing a Sine Wave in Internet Explorer*

*May not work in other browsers.

The Sine wave is graphed out below by a blue particle or dot. Enter the number, of sign waves you would like to see graphed, in the Cycles text box. This application can graph 1 to 4 sign waves where one full sine wave goes from zero to 2*pi. The buttons on the left side of the graph perform various functions. The start graph button starts the blue particle moving along a path that resembles that of a sine wave curve. Note that the start graph button always starts the blue particle moving at the same position (the origin). The pause button stops or "freezes" the particle in the location it occupies the moment the pause button was hit. The faster button increases the speed of the blue particle. The slower button decreases the speed of the blue particle. Please note that the fastest and slowest speeds are reached after hitting the corresponding buttons 3 or 4 times.

Summery

  • Cycles - number of sign waves to be graphed (one wave is of length 2*pi)
  • start graph - starts the blue dot traveling from the origin
  • pause - pauses the blue dot
  • faster - increases the speed of the blue dot
  • slower - decreases the speed of the blue dot
