By Frank P. IncroperaProfessor Noren is, overall, a very good teacher.
Noren teaches the class from basic principals and gives students a sold theoretical background on the subject.
Noren has a tendency of getting side tracked, but these detractions usually lead to interesting thermodynamics information.
Noren is a practical teacher. He teaches the course using specified guidelines and procedures which are
usually easy to understand and apply to heat transfer problems.
Noren assigns homework from the text book. All those who do the homework usually pass
with A's.
Noren's exams are based almost exactly on the homework.
The Heat Transfer text is required but is not used in class. Homework is assigned from it and the data tables in the back are essential.
The following are a few of the homework assignments I have finished using MATLAB
- Plotting heat loss vs. outer wall temperature for three thermal conductivities
- Plotting temperature distributions in a plane wall
- Plotting velocity and thermal boundary layers for several fluids
- Plotting heat loss vs. the free stream velocity of air
- Plotting heat flux vs. stream velocity of several fluids
